Art Events in Hanoi This Weekend

24 August 2018

On Friday the 24th, come to Hanoi Studio Gallery at 13 Trang Tien Street for an the solo exhibition “Sac Tam” (Colour of the Soul) by artist Phi Loan. This is a special exhibition with over 30 pieces, marking the 20-year filled with passion for collage art journey of the 80 years old female artist, with her deep emotions, love and nostalgia of a daughter of Hanoi who has long been away from her home. The exhibition also brings to the viewers an astounding artistic atmosphere with many things to be discovered.

“The Colors of Soul” will be the main theme of this exhibition and is expressed through a distinctive and creative style of art: to revive scrap papers and fabric and transform them into paintings that show an inspirational love for nature, the radiant beauty of landscapes, flowers, fruits, people and things.

Fifty percent of the sales from these paintings will be donated to the fund Hands For Hope to help children with disability to have operations.

The exhibition will be opened from 9am to 7:30pm, from August 24 to 31, 2018.

For a more intimate discussion, join Tsubasa Kato this Friday at Puppets Cafe, No. 27, Alley 189 Giang Vo Street at 8pm for a talk titled “Ou-topos Network” on his “Pull and Raise” projects around the world.

Pull and raise, two simple acts that seem to support each other but remain contradictory at the same time. They serve as a multifaceted reminder of order and chaos. While we are busy thinking about the complication of life, Tsubasa Kato ponders on “pull and raise” as a means of interaction with his audiences. Participants of the event will play a role of not only an audience but a constituent part of his work.
