The Hidden Gem of Quang Ninh Province19 June 2018
In May, past the flower season, Binh Lieu quietly moved into summertime with miles and miles of green grass. The romantic, enchanting road or the peaceful life in the village of the Dao people in the border of northeastern Quang Ninh province makes Binh Lieu an interesting getaway place for travelers.
About 270 km from Hanoi, Binh Lieu (Quang Ninh) is named "mini Sapa" because of its temperate climate year round, its diverse terrain and beautiful natural scenery.
Binh Lieu has many milestones, but the four 1300, 1302, 1305 and 1327 are places of attraction themselves. These milestones are scattered all over the border patrol road that is 700m above sea level, winding and running in between the grassy green plains.
Adventurers will have a hell of a time on the border patrol road in Binh Lieu. The beautiful and unspoiled beauty of the thin, winding road hugging the mountains may be quite similar to the roads in Ha Giang, but perhaps only in Binh Lieu will there be waves of beautiful, lush, green fields of grass that stretches all the way to the horizon.
Stopping in Mooc River Village (Dong Van Commune, Binh Lieu District), another color palette will be sure to catch your eyes. The Dao women, busy planting rice in the fields, taking care of their children or embroidering, are all wearing vibrant red head scarves with brightly colored floral patterns.
The children rushing home on the bumpy roads are always friendly, welcoming visitors to the village.
In each of those ancient household, many cultural values of the Dao people that have long been surrounded by the high mountains and thick cloud are being preserved, waiting to be discovered and experienced.
